Clarity
Through any authentic expression that captures an honest moment of humanity, the opportunity exists for the reader/listener/viewer to draw from their own field of memories, as well as their present emotional state and life situation, and through that private relationship with the expression, release themselves, even if for a single moment, from the confusion that abounds in an increasingly complex and (although more sophisticated in its tactics) dangerous world. Any works, be they musical, textual, photographic, or new media, that are either generated by the co-founder of the Human Trust, or by the work of a kindred spirit or spirits, will hold to the benchmark that we intend to create, find, and make available works that add a glimmer of clarity to our world, rather than adding to the confusion so pervasive commercially, in governments, in religious institutions, and many nonprofit organizations as well, who take advantage of their nonprofit status in order to promote obviously biased or prejudiced agendas.
Unashamed, unmasked human fragility
Secrets, while providing a valuable protection to a young person's psyche for a brief period, are the keys to hiding places that must be addressed later in life if one is to have a chance to break free from the repetitive, unaddressed behaviors that lead so many of us to go through life colliding from soul to soul, hoping against hope, and believing in the use of management tools to get at the root cause of our own agonies. Without censorship, without holding back any punches, some works generated by the Human Trust will lay open the wounds many of us have suffered, not in attempt to gain sympathy, not simply to let you know that you're not alone, not to make you feel better because someone else has suffered more than you have, but in an effort to assist anyone in breaking down the perceived walls of protection, and making one's own exploration and testing of the truth more accessible
Humor, even when it hurts
There is a kind of healing in a deep belly laugh, whether at the absurdity of life's contradictions, or at the moment of self-realization at how one may have fooled oneself for so long in order to defend a given concept or belief that has proven itself to be false or simply a tool of avoidance from the truth. Humor has, and always will be a vital part of the Human Trust. We do, however, reserve the right to express that humor unabashedly, rather than writing it for any particular audience, or censoring it in any way that might dilute that expression in order to make it more palatable for general audiences, or in order to prevent unappreciative visitors from being offended.
Testing for the truth
Obviously, the truth is known to many of us in fundamentally different and sometimes violently colliding ways. Our works will always stem from experiential exploration, and with the most accurate, concise, and creative expression we and those we publish are capable of at any given stage of life. No claim to the truth, no particular method of finding the truth, and no affiliation with any entity claiming to either know the truth, or tell you how to find their version of the truth will be tolerated. Each individual, in our experience, lives with a personal level of disconnection from the place that cannot be fooled. Through the private relationship with our works, we hope only that anyone may be assisted in doing their own homework, testing, and setting the table, in order to be ready should unwelcome, yet undeniable elements of truth bubble up from the place that cannot be fooled. Seeing the truth without the most unpretentious preparation is extremely dangerous. Setting the table and sending out the invitation to the truth is all that we hope to share and test. Our experience demonstrates that one cannot bring the truth about, or control the moment when the truth may present itself. Without honest, unrelenting preparation, such a moment could devastate the strongest among us. Links to sites and bibliographies that may assist you will be provided and updated in an ongoing manner.
No Credentials Required
In looking for and examining submitted works, no attention whatsoever will be paid to the author's academic experience, past affiliations, standing in their community, or other standard requirements you might normally expect to find. Anyone, from a student, to a blue collar worker, to a scholar, to a songwriter, to an unpublished writer, to a homeless person will receive the same consideration.
Criticism Welcomed
How our work strikes you, whether it offends you or you find it amateurish or illogical, is as vital a part of our own exploration as any other element. Your comments will always be welcome, and your complete privacy, and anonymity will be protected, unless otherwise stated by you and you alone.
I hope this at least gives you a brief thumbnail sketch of the scope and approach of the Human Trust. Feel free to email any comments you might have to info@thehumantrust.org...John Woodle.
